October 08 - Message from Sheree Paolello

|
 | | | Dear Fellow Alumni, During this season of political campaigns, I’m sure we’ve all become a bit weary of hyperbole and exaggeration. Which makes what I’m about to say all the more important. On November 8, 2008, you can be part of history. That’s the day Northern Kentucky will welcome the Greater Louisville community to the new 10,000-seat Bank of Kentucky Center at Northern Kentucky University. It’s the day NKU’s nationally ranked men’s (No. 4) and women’s (No. 1) basketball teams will host the University of Louisville.
Think about that for a minute. Did you think you’d ever see the day where the Louisville Cardinals would be playing basketball on our campus? I’ll be honest – as an alumna, I’m not sure I ever thought that would happen. But on Nov. 8 it will. That day, U of L will load up buses and head up I-71 to Highland Heights. They’ll don the red and black and represent U of L and the city of Louisville with pride. I’m challenging all of you to respond. I want to see an NKU “blackout.” I encourage everyone to support the Norse by wearing black NKU T-shirts to the game. As you can imagine, we Norse fans have a challenge on our hands. The Cardinals will be ready to play, and their fans will try to take over the Bank of Kentucky Center. Let’s not let that happen. I encourage you to make calls, forward this e-mail, write your own e-mails and talk to your friends about the game. Alumni will receive special gold towels, and will be honored at halftime with a special cake presented by the children of alumni. Alumni also will be eligible to win a special gift basket. Let’s make the first NKU basketball games in the Bank of Kentucky Center its first sellout!
The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m. and the men play at 8 p.m. One ticket gets you into both games! Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Bank of Kentucky Center box office or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Special discounted rates are available for groups of 15 or more. If you would like to bring a group, call Chris Hafling at (859) 572-7665. It’s not every day that you get to be part of history, but your chance is here and the time is now. Let’s greet our guests with some NKU pride. As an NKU alumna, I also ask that you take a few minutes to share this opportunity with others in our community. We will only have one chance to celebrate the first-ever game in facility that will be a source of pride for NKU for years to come. Let’s fill the arena and show everyone that NKU has arrived. I’m Sheree Paolello, and I approve this message.
